History of cilture of Turkey

IntroductionTurkey after Iran is one of the glowing stars of Islamic world which is situated in Europe and Asia. Turkey is surrounded by Georgia in the North, Iraq in the South, Iran in the East and Greece in the West. This country is spread on 7,883,562 square kilometers and according to the census of 2009 the population of Turkey was 72,561,312 persons. The official language is Turkish which the majorly spoken language in the country. The currency of Turkey is known as Turkish Lira
History:
 Turkey has old heritage of the history. It was in the sixth century that Mongols came here and settled down and almost in the eight century Islam was introduced. After the downfall of Abbasids the era of Saljoukis was started which also lasted for more than a century. In this period a lot of work on poetry was done and there are many world famous names in the literature that belonged to this era. Their work has been translated in many languages of the world. Turkey has a very rich culture if we consider poetry and other literature works.
 Ottoman era started after the period of Seljuks when the Usmanis left Asia and settled in Turkey. It was in 1629 when Usman first laid the foundation of Usmani period. Later on the power circle of Turkey widened to Egypt, Iraq, Syria and Hungary. In 1669 the Turks were able to raise their flag on the island of Karet but in the seventeenth century, the downfall of the Usmani period and till 1920Hungry, Bosnia, Albania and Greece were freed from the rule of Turkey.
 In the same period world war one was started in which Turkey allied with Germany. After fighting for years and years Turkish alliance lost this war and it had to bear the consequences of this alliance. In 1920 the youths of Turkey rebelled against the ruler of country and they made Anqara as the center of government. Then Turkish army under the command of Kamal Atta Turk successfully moved the Greece out of their country. In 29 October 1923the Turkey became an independent democratic country. This country was now known for its secularism and influence of religion and thus Khilafat institution was abolished which touched the sentiments of Muslims world wide and particularly in the sub continent. In the second war Turkey did not ally with any country and stayed neutral. In 1952 it became the member of NATO.Turkey is a beautiful place with rich heritage and cultural norms. Historical buildings, beautiful places, modern touch of the culture and western blend of society, make it one of the most charming places to visit.
